Smashed

Plays

is a sharp, hilarious and provocative production that deals directly with the awkward issues, concerns and questions raised by teenage drinking. Performances of the play provide a uniquely challenging view of under-age drinking as four teenagers go on an alcohol fuelled spree with tragic-comic results.

This production is targeted at Year 8 pupils and is designed to support existing work around these issues in schools and to be a catalyst for further work on teenage drinking, health education, personal responsibility, risk taking, consequences, criminal behaviour and the law. There is also an emphasis on informing and reassuring young people that there is a range of support and guidance services available to them.

Every performance is followed by a ‘hot-seating’ session, in which the main characters return to be ‘interrogated’ by the audience about their decisions and behaviour in the play. There is also a specially written follow-up pack to support teachers and workers through subsequent work.
