Welcome to the website for GW Theatre Company
, one of the best touring theatre companies in the UK . The company specialises in the production of entertaining and gripping theatre that deals unflinchingly with pressing social issues that touch us all. With a combination of theatrical verve and passion and humour GW has built a reputation for engaging, provoking and moving audiences with intensely humane and intelligent plays.

The company has a special, though not exclusive interest in working with young people, and sees no contradiction between this emphasis and the production of razor sharp performances that work with any theatre audience. To this end the company defies all attempts to have its work labelled and categorised by others and this sustains our creativity and offers us the freedom to take risks and push boundaries.

All GW Theatre productions are accompanied and supported by specially written follow-up resources offering guidance and a range of work to anyone seeking to develop further or pursue the issues raised.

Over the last 21 years the company has produced 24 original productions tackling illegal drug misuse, teenage drinking, teenage parenthood, community cohesion, racism, domestic violence, mental health and car crime, proving to even the hardest sceptics that live theatre can have a tremendous impact and is a very powerful educational tool for engaging both young and adult audiences. As well as delivering an intensive touring programme GW is also Theatre Company-in-Residence at Mossley Hollins High School in Tameside, Greater Manchester.

The company's flagship production for the next three years is the award winning
One Extreme to the Other by Mike Harris. After over 125 performances to over 18,000 people this project is now widely regarded as a leading piece of excellent practice and is currently touring nationally to schools, colleges and community venues.

The play tackles religious, racial and political extremism
and is supported by a comprehensive web based resource to support teachers, professionals and young people who have seen the play. ver the next three years, with funding from the government's Prevent programme, we will be undertaking trailblazing performances across the UK.
